You get one game each, it will be a branch-style tournament.

X
   —-  X
Y

                —– Y
X
   —- Y

                               —– Y
X
   —- X

            —    X

X
   —- Y

If that makes sense.

You'll have to make sure that any non-Pro players are always paired against Pro players, though, since one person must have it in order to get the advanced settings.

My plan was to create a 1v1v1 and I'll just move out of the way and skip my turns.
On the off-hand they are not spawned correctly, we restart the game.

I'll film it all anyway.

I don't think this plan of yours will work, simply because your miraculous plan guarantees that the spawning fails 2/3rds of the time. Plus, you can only skip 2 turns before the game boots you, and with walls on, you can't really just punt a grenade off the map. Additionally, you're imposing the coordination difficulties of trying to get *THREE* people to show up all at once, instead of just two. Getting THREE people to all show up at once when the only coordination has been through a forum basically requires a miracle.

For the spawn thing, it's true, this could be time consuming… For the turns skips he can just throw a fullpower grenade above his head, it would explode in midair!

For the 3 ppl getting in place, mageg should always be there (lol, jk), but it's not that hard to get an hour where the two contenders (+ mageg) should meet… If one or another don't show up, it's direct lose…

The introduction of a third player who doesn't actually participate will both unnecessarily complicate coordination and likely render this thing dead on the runway, as has previously happened when people have attempted this in other games.

Fixed opponent matchups, similarly, run into people with their incompatible and tiresome whiny sleep schedules, work, etc.

The method that sort-of-works is just to run the brackets ad-hoc: Every competitor attempts to meet up with one other competitor at his current bracket, however it is they manage it, then they fight their matches and post the results here. Example: There are 8 competitors, 1 through 8. For the first bracket, they just pair off ad-hoc, say, 1 vs. 6, 2 vs. 5., etc., with no particular order other than that they happen to encounter each other. 1 and 2 are the winners, so they announce their results, advance to the next level, and attempt to pair off against other contestants (such as each other) who have also defeated their first opponent. Unless some kind of disagreement results, which is unlikely, there is no real need to throw in additional bureaucracy and oversight which will just slow down the process.

It's not a bad idea. However, as Rob rightly pointed out, since there is a reward they will be more likely to lie / cheat etc. As said by Ziki, it wouldn't be too time-consuming and confirms that there is no cheating.

Actually, lying about the results or cheating is a pretty low-plausibility activity: There are two players. If both players cannot agree on a reported result, then obviously someone is lying. If both players DO agree on a reported result, then honesty is sort of implicit. As mentioned above, the statistics indicate that under the setup proposed, your game launch is a failure 66% of the time, as the "referee" player spawns into the wrong spot 2/3rds of the time. In short, it doesn't work. The probability that a player actually attempts to lie about his results, on the other hand, is pretty low: I've never really seen this happening, and even static screenshots by any contestant can put serious doubts on any false testimony.

Only the best serve me, let the others moan.

Well, I've personally seen it happen quite often in high-stake games.

I wouldn't really say "mystery prize" is high stakes, and given a small community size like this, rather unlikely. You're going to be rerolling an awful lot of games, since it can take nearly a dozen rerolls to get it right, as according to the math, it will take you about a dozen attempts just to get it right. By then everyone's rep will be -10. It's just a really bad system here, since dropping a game is not exactly penalty free. You should probably only resort to this if a dispute arises that cannot be resolved by regular screenshot evidence. Considering that you are MIA for more than half the day, trying to force an international crowd to conform to your very limited schedule is going to be a real pain in the neck.
