Reserve option for friend requests

RE: Reserve option for friend requests
I like this idea a lot. It gets very annoying when, after 30 minutes of playing, I go to invite a friend to a game and I have 10 pending requests that I have to get rid of. I'm all for it.

Grave digging is a rule that is dependant on the situation, in this case it isn't too bad
as the last reply was only about 2 months ago and Plop is showing his support for the suggestion Smiley_Smile

RE: Reserve option for friend requests
Oh gosh, I'm sorry! I did not even realize it had been 2 months. I saw this at the very top of today's posts so I read it and thought it was a great idea. Didn't mean to dig it up, sorry about that!

RE: Reserve option for friend requests
Well since it's back up now, I guess I'll just comment that I also believe this is a good idea.
Definitely very useful and a bit more logical than the system we already have.

RE: Reserve option for friend requests
The issue with the Reserve option is that it becomes a second friend list. If the real friends list is limited for whatever reason (database performance issues I assume, large associative tables are painful for them), then adding a reserve feature just defeats the limit -- if you're going to do that, you might as well remove the limit on the actual friends list.

As nice as this is, it makes absolutely no sense from an implementation standpoint.

So, instead of this, why not just allow to add friends by username? Like, if you know someone's username, you could have a box to type it in and add them as friend.
Then, if you want to "reserve" someone, you just have to write the name down (in a piece of paper, a text file, wherever) and you can add them whenver you want.

This actually does seem like a good alternative.
Really, anything is an improvement from the current system. You either accept or decline, and if your list is full; you're out of luck. You need to decline, then make some room, and then go find the person to add again.
