How about that you don't actually take damage upon yourself, but for your next turn your weapons will become disabled.

that's even worse option, misses opponent for example with bouncer and shoots teammate instead so next round can't shoot so opponents can deal upto 100 dmg while your team can deal only upto 50 dmg (assuming no packs).
